What is gravita?
Number of pregnancies
What is para?
Number of live births
What is placenta previa?
Placenta is formed in abnormal location that will not allow for normal delivery
(Low in uterus or covering cervical opening)
What is preclampsia?
Pregnancy complication in which woman retains fluid and has hypertension
What is the placenta?
Organ of pregnancy where exchange of oxygen nutrients and waste occur between mother and fetus
What is a prolapsed cord?
When the cord presents first and is squeezed between vaginal wall and baby’s head
What is a neonate?
Newly born under 1month
What is nuchal cord?
The Chord around baby’s neck
If neonate is breathing and active….
Dry, warm, and stimulate (feet and back)
If neonate breathing is absent
Or heart rate is under 100….
Begin BVM 40-60/min
Reasses at 60 seconds…if heart rate less than 100…
Continue BVM
If heart rate less then 60…
Begin chest compressions
How to help with bleeding after birth
Massaging uterus
Tell mother to nurse the baby
What is breech?
When baby’s bum or both legs appear first
How to treat prolapsed chord?
Elevate hips
Keep baby head away from chord
Don’t push chord back in
Wrap chord in moist towel
Transport
