What is an obstacle?
Something personal to an individual that blocks them moving forward or when action is prevented or made difficult.
Types of obstacles:
- emotional/ psychological: lack of motivation, low self esteem
- time constraints: work/ study commitments, family commitments.
- availability of resources: financial resources (lack of money/ benefits), physical resources ( car, bathroom scales)
- unachievable targets: to difficult to achieve due to ability or timescale
- lack of support: single parent, live alone
