What does Clotrimazole do?
Interferes with amino acid transport into the fungus by action on cell membrane
What does Clotrimazole treat?
Fungal infections such as vaginal yeast infections, oral thrush and ringworm, athletes foot
What are combined oral contraceptives?
Combination of oestrogen with progestogen
What do combined oral contraceptives do?
Inhibits secretion of FSH
Inhibits secretion of LH
What does combined oral contraceptives treat?
Menstrual symptoms and unwanted ovulation
What are two examples of combined oral contraceptives?
ethinylestradiol & levonorgestrel, ethinylestradiol & norethisterone
What do progesterone- only contraceptives do?
Acts on cervical mucus
Effects implantation and mobility and secretion of fallopian tube
What does progesterone-only contraceptives treat?
Unwanted ovulation
What are three examples of progesterone-only contraceptives?
norethisterone, levonorgestrel, erthynodiol
What do interferons do?
Activate cells part of the immune system and destroys invading pathogens
What types of interferons are there?
Alpha (from white cells), beta (from fibroblasts) and gamma ( from lymphocytes)
What do interferons treat?
Viral infections (chronic hepatitis), cancers, HIV and also can slow down progression of multiple sclerosis
What are two examples of interferons?
interferons alpha-2a, interferons beta-1a
