Objective 7.2.d Flashcards
The amount of time required to complete a discrete unit of work, converting an input into an output
Cycle Time
The amount of time a discrete unit of work waits in a queue before work begins
Wait Time
The sum of the wait time and the cycle time. Is the total time required to complete a discrete unit of work, from when it enters the process queue to when the process ends
Lead Time
The number of discrete units of work waiting to be operated on by a process
Process Queue
The number of discrete units of work being operated on, but which are not yet completed
Work In Progress (WIP)
The rate at which work enters or exits the system (flow)
Throughput
Little’s Law
WIP = Throughput x Lead Time
Throughput of any system is determined by one constraint
