A

The senate is composed of 2 senators from
Each stte, elected by the people, for 6 yrs
Each senator has 1 vote
Electors in each stte have qualifications requisite for
Electors of the most numerous branch of stte legislatures
If vacancies occur in the representation of any stte
In senate, the executive authority of that stte
Will issue WRITS OF ELECTION to fill them
The legislature of any stte may empower the executive
Thereof to make temporary apptmts till the people
Fill vacancies by election as the legislature may direct
This amendment isn’t to be construed as to affect election
Or term of any senator chosen before this becomes valid

Neither pres elect nor a vp elect qualify, declaring
Who shall then act as pres or manner in which 1

Accordingly till a pres or vp has qualified

Congress may provide for case of death of any
Person from whom house of reps chooses a pres
Whenever right of choice has devolved, and for
case of Death of any person from whom senate

In case of removal of pres from office or death
Or resignation, vp becomes pres

Whenever theres a vacancy in office of vp,

When pres transmits to pres pro tempore of
Senate & speaker of house of reps his written
Declaration that hes unable to discharge (perform)
Powers & duties of his office, & until he transmits
To them a written declaration to the contrary, such
Powers & duties are discharged by the vp as
Acting pres
Section 4
When vp & majority of either principal officers
Of executive depts or of such other body as congress
May provide, transmit to the pres pro tempore of
The senate & speaker of house of reps their
Written declaration that pres is unable to discharge
powers & duties of his office, vp immediately assumes
powers & duties of office as acting pres
then, when pres transmits to pres pro tempore
of senate & speaker of house of rep his
written declaration that no inability exists,
he resumes powers & duties of office unless vp &
majority of either principal officers of
executive dept or of such other body as congress
provides, transmit w/in 4 days to pres pro tempore
of the senate & speaker of the house of reps
their writeen declaration the pres
is unable to discharge powers & duties of his office
thereupon, congress decides the issue, assembling
w/in 48 hours for that purpose if not in session.
if congress w/in 21 days after receipt of the latter
written declaration, or, if congress is not in session,
w/in 21 days after congress’ required to assemble
determines by 2/3 vote of both houses that pres
is unable to discharge powers & duties of office,
vp shall continue to discharge the same as acting pres
otherwise, pres resumes powers & duties of office
