NURSING CONSIDERATIONS:
• Monitor for neutropenia
• Can take 6 months to see improvement

immunomodulators used for clients who do not respond to other drugs in regards to IBS. Suppresses the immune response. Inhibits the Tumor Necrosis Factor- an inflammatory mediator.
NURSING CONSIDERATIONS:
• Monitor for adverse effects: chills, fever, hypo/hypertension, dysrhythmias, blood dyscrasias
• Monitor liver enzymes, CBC, coagulation studies
• Advise client: avoid crowds, monitor for evidence of infection, bleeding

antidiarrheals that suppresses the # of stools. slows GI mobility. decrease fluid volume loss and electrolyte imbalance.
NURSING CONSIDERATIONS:
• Monitor for toxic megacolon
Observe for hypotension, abdominal distention, decrease or absence of bowel sounds
• Monitor for respiratory depression in older adults
• Advise client to avoid hazardous activities until effect established
