Shape of the outside of the bone
Shade of whiteness inside the bone

In an X-ray, what does no joint space suggest?
No cartilage is present. Bones will rub on each other, nerve endings are compressed and there will be altered movement
What is osteoarthritis?
Degenerate bone disease.
It occurs when the protective cartilage that cushions the ends of your bones wears down over time.
What affect does osteoarthritis have on joints?
Morning stiffness
Reduced ROM
Painful to weight bear
Swelling around joint
What is rheumatoid arthritis?
Chronic, symmetrical inflammation of joints.
It is an autoimmune disease, the immune system attacks the cells that line your joints by mistake, making the joints swollen, stiff and painful
What are the clinical features of rheumatoid arthritis?
Painful during and after movement Morning stiffness Swelling Inflammation of other organs Joint destruction and deformity
