cataracts- strain specific or trauma
blepharitis- swelling, squinting tx flushing lube abx, nt
corneal ulceration- squinting from traume high ammonia tx with ointment, enucleation
bupthalmos/exopthalmos- enlarged globe-> glaucoma, mass, strain specific tx monitor, cull
retinal degneration-> genetic or environmental (RD1 gene)

subclinical-> abd distension, big spleen, LN
dx- histo
mammary tumours
mouse mammary tumour virus, genetics, chemicals, radiation, hormones
C/S- well defined mass
dx- histology (adenocarcinoma most common)
chronic progressive nephropathy
rats, varies w age (>1y), strain (SD), sex (M), high protein diet
C/S- weight loss, proteinuria, high CRE
dx- pitted kidneys, dilated tubules on histo
can get secondary hyperparathyroidism

C/S- firm lobluated mass
dx- surrounded by CT on histo
tx- sx
pituitary gland tumour

chromophobe adenoma
dx- soft dark mass

C/S- anemia, icterus, weight loss
dx- high WBC, big spleen, liver lymphocytes on histo
zymbals gland tumours
holocrine gland at base of ear
dx- lobulated ulcerated mass (adenoma or adenocarcinoma)

C/S- edema, ascites
path- liver, kidney, adrenals. pale rough organs, amyloid on histo
