Why does smoking cause some non communicable diseases?
It is associated with cardiovascular diseases and more prone to a heart attack or stroke .
Nicotine increases heart rate and blood pressure
Blood pressure damages artery walls means more fatty deposits , this restricts blood flow and increase chance of heart attack .
Smoking causes increase blood clots which can restrict or block blood flow - heart attack or stroke
What lifestyle things increase the risk?
Not getting enough exercise
Too much alcohol
Too few or many nutrients
What things cause non communicable diseases? ( risk factors)
Cancer, liver and lung diseases and obesity , type 2 diabetes , cardiovascular diseases.
What do non communicable diseases cause in the long run?
Very common - 1 cause of death
Very costly
Pressure on hospitals
