Mechanism of Action
smooth muscles relaxant acting on vasculature, bronchial, uterine, and intestinal smooth muscles. Reduces preload and afterload which reduces cardiac workload and oxygen demand..
Indication
Angina, Ischemic chest pain, Hypertension, Congestive heart failure, and pulmonary edema.
Contraindications
Hypotension, Hypovolemia, Intracranial bleed. Pericardial Tamponade, severe bradycardia, severe tachycardia, right ventricular infarction
Adverse effects
Headache, dizziness, weakness, reflex tachycardia, syncope, hypotension, N/V, drymouth, muscle twitching, diaphoresis
Precautions
Not to be given if patient has had and ED medications within the past 48 hrs. Tadilafil, Vardenafil, Sildenafil
Dose
O.4mg SL q 5 min. max 3x
Infusion rate in 10 mcg/min, increase 10mcg/min to titrate to effect.
