What are short-acting nitrates indicated for?
Acute angina and chest pain associated with acute coronary syndrome (ACS)
What are long-acting nitrates indicated for?
Prophylaxis of angina when a beta-blocker or calcum channel blocker are insufficient or not tolerated
How do they work?
They cause vasodilation
What are the warnings of this drug class?
Contraindicated in severe aortic stenosis
Should be avoided in hypotension
What drug interactions do they have?
Should not be taken concurrently with phosphodiesterase inhibitors (slidenafil) enhances effect of nitrates

glyceryl trinitrate isosorbide mononitrate
What are the side effects of these drugs
Flushing
Headaches
Light-headedness
Hypotension
