TACS (total anterior circulation stroke) Fx
- anterior/ middle cerebral arteries
unilateral weakness AND homonomous hemianopia AND higher cerebral dysfunction
PACS (partial anterior circulation stroke) Fx
- smaller anterior cerebral arteries
two of: unilateral weakness, homonymous hemianopia and higher cerebral dysfunction.
POCS (posterior circulation stroke) Fx
- vertebrobasilar arteries
cerebella/ brainstem symptoms
loss of consciousness
isolated homonymous hemianopia
LACS (lacunar circulation stroke) Fx
- arteries around thalamus, basal ganglia, internal capsule
purely motor/ sensory defect
bilateral acoustic neuroma associated with
neurofibromatosis 2

large irregular pupil slow to constrict to light, but constricts normally to accommodation

unilateral lesion in afferent visual pathway antierior to chiasm
torch into good eye = bilateral constriction
torch into effected eye = bilateral dilatation
