Parasympathetic - “Rest and Digest”
Sympathetic - “Fight or Flight”

What effects does each subdivision have on heart rate, respiratory rate, gut activity, blood glucose and the size of the pupil?
A
Sympathetic (thoracic SC)- increased respiratory rate, heart rate, and blood glucose, dilated pupils and relaxed gut
Parasympathetic (Cranial and Sacral SC) - decreased respiratory rate, heart rate, and blood glucose, constricted pupils, and busy gut
