Neuroanatomy Flashcards
1
Q
Occipital Lobe
Functions
Lesion?
A
- conscious perception of visual stimulation
- voluntary and involuntary motor responses to visual stimulation
- lesion may produce cortical blindness
2
Q
Parietal Lobe
Functions
Lesion?
A
- conscious proprioception (touch, pain, pressure, temp, and noxious stimuli
- unilateral lesion may produce hemineglect (failure to perceive one half of environment)
3
Q
Frontal Lobe
Functions
Lesion?
A
- contains neurons responsible for voluntary motor functions
- associated with behavior
- lesions produce abnormalities of voluntary movement, changes in behavior
4
Q
Temporal Lobe
Functions
Lesion?
A
- perception and interpretation of auditory information
- contains auditory cortex
- destruction of one auditory cortex will not produce deafness
5
Q
Piriform Lobe
Functions
Lesion?
A
- perception and interpretation of olfactory information
- connects to limbic system
- lesions result in loss of sense of smell
6
Q
What is a cistern?
A
region of dilation of the subarachnoid space
- can be used for CSF collection
7
Q
What is the function of the Cerebellum?
A
posture and movement coordination
