A
  • simple network
  • provides shared resources e.g. software, files, printers
  • enables peers to find data without relying on a centralised server

client server explain

A
  • one centralised powerful computer ( the server)
  • server is a hub to which many less powerful personal computers (clients) connect to.
  • clients run programs and access data that r stored on the server
  • server purpose is to serve the clients

  • cost saving
  • no network manager
  • easy to set up
  • no reliance on server
  • operating costs r lower
  • peer responsibility

  • poorer security
  • needs more IT knowledge
  • backups r decentralised so have to be performed by by each individual PC by each user
  • computers may run slow
  • hard to find files
  • only suitable for small networks (<15 comps)
