Flaws in each model Flashcards
1
Q
OSI flaws
A
- Was made when TCP/IP was already well established.
-Is a complicated model.
-Has unbalanced layers.
-Repeats functions.
-Designed for communications and not computing.
-Complicated to implement
-Seen as biased towards European telecom, European community, and U.S. government.
2
Q
TCP/IP flaws
A
-Doesn’t clearly distinguish between what layers do, the interfaces and how the layer communicates, the protocols and how the layer does what it does
-It is too specific, the model is only suited to describing TCP/IP and not other networks.
-Protocols are very specific and are not flexible.
-There’s no distinction between physical and data link layers.
