Collecting duct
Symptoms?
Can be asymptomatic
Pain
- Colicky
- Loin
Infection signs
- Cystitis
- Pyelonephritis
What is the typical pattern of pain radiation in nephrolithiasis?
Classically radiates loin to groin
What does pain on micturation indicate?
Differentiates bladder stones and ureteric stones
Signs?
Haematuria
Proteinuria
Hydronephrosis
DDx?
Worry about AAA
Tests?
KUB XR/ CT KUB
USS kidney
Important blood tests?
Calcium
Phosphate
Urate
Why is it very important to test serum urate?
Urate stones are radiolucid
Surgical treatment?
ESWL (gold standard)
Percutaneous nephrostomy (remove pressure)
What is ESWL?
Extracorporeal shockwave lithotripsy
