Nephritis Flashcards
What is nephritis? Results from what?
Inflammation of glomerulus.-Immunological abnormalities most common.-Vascular disorder-System disease-Viral Causes
What are the characteristics of nehpritis?
Less than 3.5 g of protein loss per day.-Hematuria (RBC Casts).-Azotemia-Hypertension
What is acute postinfectious glomerulonephritis? Characteristics?
Following strep infection/Antigen-antibody complexes precipitate on glomerular membrane. -Capillary endo cell proliferation.
What is IgA (bergers disease)? Characteristics?
Acute glomerulonephritis.-After 2-3 days after URT or GI viral infection.-IgA binds to mesangial cells inducing proliferation.
What is Rapidly progressive glomerulonephritis (RPGN)? Characteristics? Also called?
Antiglomerular basement membrane disease. AKA Goodpasture syndrome.-Get cresent from fibrin cells.
What is Chronic Glomerulonephritis? Examples? Charcteristics?
Varius disease cause slow progressive loss of renal function. -Diabetes mellitus (Glucose damages endo cells)-Hypertension (pressure damages glomerulus)-Autoimmunity.Get tubular atrophy, Slight proteinuriaWaxy and RBC casts in urine.
What is pyelonephritis? Complicated vs uncomplicated.
Invasive kidney infection from UTI (E coli, Proteus). E coli mostly causes uncomplicated version.
What is drug-induced interstitial nephritis?
Antibiotics, NSAIDS.IgE and T cell responseEosinophilia, hematuria.Analgesic nephritis is worse.
