Necrosis Flashcards
What is necrosis
The cell injury
What is coagulative necrosis
Normally from the lack of blood flow (cancers can have)
Would have the ghost outline of the cells
Normally would occur in the solid organs
What is liquifactive necrosis
Necrosis that would normally happen in the loose tissues
Would occur in the brain (cerebral necrosis)
Would have complete break down of the cells
What is wet gangrene
Would occur from the liquifactive necrosis
Would come with the foul cell and the accumulation of fluid in the limb
What is dry gangrene
Gangrere that would appear dry and blackened
Would be from the necrosis that would dry up as it would interact with the air
Would occur before the bacteria can overgrow
What is Caseous necrosis
Necrosis that would occur in the cells and would lead to a large amount of debris
Would have the ghost outlines of the cells
Would normally occur in tuberculosis
What is fatty necrosis
Occurs when the lipases would break down the in the adipose tissues
Would then have the release of the free fatty acids
Free fatty acids would turn into the calcium soaps (saponification)
Would lead to the build up of the white/yellow nodules
What is a white infarct
Anaemic infarcts
Occurs in the solid organs due to the occlusions of the end artery’s
Coagulative necrosis
What is a red infarct
Haemorrigic
When have a dual blood supply
Loose tissue
Raised venous pressure
