Describe the boundaries of the anterior border of the neck
Superior - inferior border of mandible, Lateral - anterior border of SCM, Medial - sagittal line down midline of neck
What arteries lie within the anterior triangle?
Common Caroitd, External Carotid, Facial, Internal Carotid
What veins lie within the anterior triangle?
Internal Jugular and Facial vein
What nerves lie within the anterior triangle?
Vagus, Accessory, Hypoglossal, Glossopharyngeal and Laryngeal Nerves
What lymph nodes lie within the anterior triangle?
Submandibular and Submental
What are the boundaries of the posterior triangle of the neck?
Anterior - posterior border of the SCM, Posterior - anterior border of the trapezius, Inferior- middle third of the clavicle
What nerves are present in the posterior triangle?
Accessory nerves, cervical nerve plexus
What artery is present in the posterior triangle ?
Occipital Artery
What vein is present in the posterior triangle?
External Jugular Vein
What kind of gland is the thyroid gland?
An Endocrine Gland
What does the thyroid gland produce?
Thyroid Hormone and Calcitonin (reduces calcium and raises phosphate)
What does the parathyroid gland do?
Regulates calcium and phosphate levels
What do the parotid nodes drain?
Scalp, parotid glands, face
What do occipital nodes drain?
Scalp
What do superficial cervical nodes drain?
Breast and Solid Viscera
