Why are markets on the rise?
As more and more people living in cities become wealthy, they consume more products and goods.
What are TNCs?
TNCs (Transnational cooperations) are firms with operations spread all around the world, operating in nations as both makers and sellers of goods and services.
How have TNCs impacted globalisation?
They have brought both cultural and economic change to places in the world where goods and services are made and consumed
What are SAPs?
Structural Adjustment Programmes (SAPs) are strict conditions for countries receiving loans from the IMF.
Some countries may be required to cut back on healthcare, education, sanitation or housing.
How does the IMF further promote globalisation?
Governments that receive loans must run free-market economies open to investments from outside, making it easier for TNCs to enter.
What is the IMF?
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) transfers loans from the world’s richest nations to countries that apply for help.
What organisations work alongside the IMF?
The World Trade Organistaion (WTO) and the World Bank.
How do NGOs
They work to connect places and people
How has the use of air travel increased?
Expansion of cheap flights airlines (e.g. Easyjet and Ryanair) means more people can afford it.
