Program Design
Important components that specify how each exercise is to be performed
Acute Variables
one complete movement of a single exercise
Repetition
A group of consecutive repetitions
Set
An individuals level of effort compared with their maximal effort, which is usually expressed as a percentage.
Training Intensity
The time taken to recuperate between sets
Rest Interval
Amount of physical training performed within a specified period
Training Volume
The number of training sessions performed during a specified period (usually 1 week)
Training Frequency
The time frame of a workout or the length spent in one phase of training
Training Duration
The process of choosing appropriate exercises for a clients program
Exercise Selection
The specific outline, created by fitness professionals to meet a clients goals, that details the form of training, length of time, future changes, and specific exercises to be performed.
Training Plan
Generalized training plan that spans 1 month to show when the client will progress between phases.
Monthly Plan
Training plan of specific workouts that span 1 week and shows exercises are required each day of the week
Weekly Plan
A phase-specific model of training that includes five different phases of training. The phases systematically progresses all clients through the three main adaptations of stabilization, strength, and power.
OPT Model
Generalized training plan that spans 1 year to show when the client will progress between phases.
