What are nasal polyps associated with?
A
- Asthma* (particularly late-onset asthma)
- Aspirin sensitivity*
- Infective sinusitis
- Cystic fibrosis
- Kartagener’s syndrome
- Churg-Strauss syndrome
NOTE: Samter’s triad = aspirin sensitivity+asthma+ nasal polyps

What is the management pathway for nasal polyps?
A
- Topical corticosteroids shrink polyps in 80% of patients.
- All should be referred to ENT for a full examination.
- Unilateral symptoms or bleeding should warrant further investigation.
