myasthenia gravis Flashcards
what is used to diagnose cholinergic crisis?
tensilon test (edrophonium)
negative tensilon test-make clients worst
positive tensilon test- make clients better
what do you do for the tensilon test?
- injected IV
- atropine sulfate is antidote for overdose
- to diagnose MG- most clients will see improvement in 30-60 sec and lasts 4-5 mins
what are the important nursing interventions for MG?
- take meds on time to maintain blood level
- take with small amount of food.
- eat meal within 45 min to 1hr after taking med to decrease risk of aspiration
- have er rescuscitation equip/atrophine sulfate for cholingic crisis
