List the functions of the skeleton and relate to sport
Support(keep vital organs in place and hold up muscles)- bicep is attached to arm= bicep curl
Movement- to walk, femur, tibia, fibula are being pulled on by muscles via tendons to move
Mineral storage- bones store calcium so when I play ruby, my bones don’t break as often because I drink milk
Blood cell production- my white blood cells stop me being sick allowing me to play more matches
Protection- flat bones e.g ribs protects my lungs when I get tackled in rugby
Structure and shape- determine height and build so I can be lifted in a line if I’m tall
What is an acronym for functions of the skeleton?
Sick People Might Steal My Bananas
What does a flat bone do? Give an example
Protect vital organs
.sternum for heart
.ribs for lungs
.cranium for brain
What do short bones do? Give a sporting example for when they are needed
Produce fine movements
.darts
.rugby spin passes
