Medial Meniscal Tear

A

Forceful twist at knee with foot planted –> POP
Pain on medial side of the knee with delayed effusion
Knee locking during extension seen with bucket handle tears
McMurray Sign: audible/palpable snap with knee extension from full flexion with applied tibial torsion

Scaphoid Frx

A

Falling on outstretched hand with pain in the anatomical snuffbox
+ XR for non displaced frx (radiolucent lines on scaphoid, 6-10 weeks immobilization

-XR but high suspicion 1) immobilize, analgesia, repeat X-ray 10 days
OR 2) advanced imaging

Displaced frx requires open reduction and internal fixation

Morton Neuroma

A

Not true neuroma
Mechanical neurodegeneration with burning numbness and pain from metatarsal heads radiating to third and fourth toes

Mulder Sign: pain and click when palpating the plantar third and four toe space while squeezing metatarsal heads
Treatment is foot support or surg in refrx cases
