Prevention: Treat compound fractures and infections promptly
Tuberculosis
Causes: Mycobacterium tuberculosis
Prevention: Prompt treatment of pulmonary tuberculosis will limit spread to bone
Osteoporosis
Risks: Women
Prevention: Diet rich in Vitamin D, daily weight bearing exercises(for bone development), avoid smoking, alcohol and caffeine
Rickets
Causes: Vitamin D Deficiency(childhood)
Prevention: Vitamin D fortified milk, sunlight exposure, cod liver oil, calcium and phosphorus supplements
Osteomalacia
Causes: Inadequate dietary Vitamin D(adulthood), calcium and phosphorus deficiency
Bone fractures
Causes: Trauma
Rheumatoid Arthritis
Causes: Autoimmune
Osteoarthritis
Causes: Normal aging, joint injury, trauma, obesity
Gout(Gouty Arthritis)
Risks: Minor injury, excessive eating/drinking, heredity, high uric levels in joints
Septic Arthritis
Causes: Streptococci and Staphylococci
Bursitis
Causes: Repetitive motion, irritation, injury to bursa
Herniated Discs
Risks: Age, obesity, trauma, genetics
Dislocation
Causes: Trauma, improperly formed joint
