ORIGIN
Medial epicondyle of the humerus (common flexor tendon), coronoid process of the ulna, and oblique line of the radius.
INSERTION
Phalanges 2-5.
ACTION
Flexes PIP joints of digits 2-5, assists in flexion of MCP joints and wrist.
INNERVATION
Median. PIP= proximal interphalangeal joints. MCP = metacarpophalangeal.
Flexor Digitorum Profundus
ORIGIN
Anteromedial surface of the shaft of ulna and interosseus membrane.
INSERTION
Distal phalanges of four fingers.
ACTION
Flexion of distal phlanges 2-5, assists in flexion of MCP joints and wrist.
INNERVATION
Median and Ulnar.
Flexor Digiti Minimi
ORIGIN
Flexor retinaculum.
INSERTION
Base of the proximal phalanx of the little finger. ACTION
Flexes little finger at MCP joint.
INNERVATION
Ulnar.
Extensor Digitorum
ORIGIN
Lateral epicondyle of humerus (common extensor tendon).
INSERTION
Middle and distal phalanges of four fingers.
ACTION
Extends fingers 2-5, assists wrist extension.
INNERVATION
Radial.

ORIGIN
The posterior shaft of ulna and interosseus membrane.
INSERTION
Phalanges of index finger.
ACTION
Extends MCP of index finger.
INNERVATION
Radial.

Extensor expansion of little finger.
ACTION
Extension of little finger.

Deep branch of ulnar nerve.

ORIGIN
The metacarpals.
INSERTION
Proximal phalange of 1st, 2nd, 4th, and 5th fingers.
ACTION
Adduct thumb, index, ring and little fingers to midline, flex MCP joints and assist lumbricals in extension of PIP joints.
INNERVATION
Ulnar.

ORIGIN
Hook of hamate and flexor retinaculum.
INSERTION
Medial border of 5th metacarpal.
ACTION
Pulls 5th metacarpal forward.
INNERVATION
Ulnar.
Abductor Digiti Minimi
ORIGIN
Pisiform.
INSERTION
Base of the proximal phalanx of the 5th digit. ACTION
Abducts little finger.
