Muscles Of The Neck Flashcards
What is the OIA for middle scalene?
O: posterior tubercle of transverse process of c2-c7 I: superior surface of first rib A: flex neck laterally, elevate first rib.
What is the OIA for Posterior scalene?
O: posterior tubercle of Tp C5-C7 I: external border of 2nd rib A: flex neck laterally, elevate 2nd rib
Mylohyoid OIA
O:Mylohyoid line of mandible I:Body of hyoid A:Elevates hyoid and floor of mouth.
Geniohyoid OIA
O: inferior mental spine of mandible I: body of hyoid A: pulls hyoid anterior and superior.
Stylohyoid OIA
O: Styloid process of the temporal bone I: Body of hyoid A: move hyoid during speaking and swallowing
Digastric OIA
Anterior belly: digastric fossa of mandible Posterior belly:mastoid notch of temporal bone Insertion: central tendon of hyoid Action: move hyoid while speaking and swallowing
What is the OIA for anterior scalene?
O: anterior tubercles of TP of C3-C6
I: 1st rib
A: Flex neck, side bending
What is the OIA for the Platysma?
O: Inferior border of mandible, skin, and subcutaneous tissue of the lower face. I: fascia covering superior part of pectorals major and deltoid. A: draws corners of mouth inferiorly and laterally (frowny face). Also, draws skin of the neck superiorly when teeth are clenched.
What is the innervation of the Platysma?
cervical branch of the facial nerve. CN 8.
Sternocleidomastoid OI?
O (S): Mastoid process, and lateral half of superior nuchal line. I (D): Manubrium of sternum and medial 1/3 of clavicle.
Action of SCM?
A: Unilateral contraction causes lateral flexion of the neck, and rotates head so that face is is turned superiorly toward opposite side. Bilateral contraction cases extension at alanto-occipital joint and flexion at cervical vertebrae.
Innervation of Mylohyoid?
Nerve to the mylohyoid, a branch of the inferior alveolar nerve which comes from the mandibular nerve (V3).
Innervation of the Geniohyoid?
C1 vetral Rami, via hypoglossal nerve (CN 12)
Stylohyoid innervation?
Stylohyoid branch of the facial nerve. (CN 7)
Innervation of the digastric?
Anterior belly: Nerve to the mylohyoid, which is a branch of the inferior alveolar nerve. Posterior belly: Digastric branch of the facial nerve
