Muscles Of The Hand Flashcards
OIAN abductor pollicis Brevis
O:Flexor retinaculum and tubercles of scaphoid and trapezium. I:Lateral side of the base of proximal phalanx of the thumb. A: Abducts thumb, helps oppose it. N: Median nerve C8 Primary
Flexor pollicis brevis OIAN
O: Flexor retinaculum and tubercles of scaphoid and trapezium. I: Lateral side of base of proximal phalanx of thumb A; Flexes thumb N: Median nerve C8 primary
Adductor pollicis oblique head OIAN (NOT A THENAR muscle)
O: Bases of 2nd and 3rd MC, capitate I: Medial side of the base of proximal phalanx of thumb A: Adducts thumb N: Ulnar nerve C8 primary
Adductor pollicis transverse head OIAN (NOT A THENAR muscle)
O: Anterior surface of the shaft of the 3rd MC. I: Median side of the base of proximal phalanx of the thumb. A: Adducts thumb N: Ulnar nerve C8 primary
OIAN Opponens pollicis
O: Flexor retinaculum and tubercles of scaphoid and trapezium. I: Lateral side of 1st MC A: Oppose thumb, draws first MC medially to center of palm and rotates medially. N: Median nerve, C8 primary
Abductor digiti minimi OIAN
O: pisimform
I: Medial side of the base of proximal phalanx 5
A: aducts 5th digit. assists in flexion of it’s proximal phalanx
N: Ulnar nerve T1 primary
Flexor digiti minimi OIAN
O: Hook of Hmate and Flexor retinaculum
I: meidal side of the base of proximal phalanx 5
A: flexes proximal phalanx of 5th digit
N: Ulnar nerve T1 primary
Opponens Digiti OIAN
O: Hook of hamate and flexor retinaculum
I: medial border of MC 5
A: draws MC 5 Anterior and rotates it. Brings into opposition with thumb.
N: Ulnar nerve T1 Primary
1st and 2nd Lumbricals OIAN
O: lateral 2 tendons of the flexor digitorum profundus
I: Lateral side of extensor expansions of 2-5th digit
A: Flexes DIP, PIP, and MCP 2-5
N: Median Nerve T1 primary
3rd and 4th Lumbricals OIAN
O: Medial 3 tendons of the flexor digitorum profundus
I: Lateral side of extensor expansions of 2-5th digit
A: Flexes DIP, PIP, and MCP 2-5
N: Ulnar Nerve T1 primary
Dorsal Interosseous 1-4 OIAN
O: adjacent sides of 2 metacarpals
I: bases of proximal phalanges, extensor expansion 2-4
A: abducts 2-4 digits from axial line acts with lumbricals to flex MCPs and extend PIPs and DIPs
N: Ulnar nerve T1 primary
Palmar interosseous 1-3 OIAN
O:palmar surfaces 2nd, 4th and 5th metacarpals.
I: base of proximal phalanges; extensor expansions of 2nd 4th and 5th digit.
A: adduct 2nd, 4th and 5th digits toward axial line. assits lumbricals in flexing MCP and extending and extending DIPs and PIPs
N: Ulnar nerve T1 primary
