Muscles Of The Arm Flashcards
What is the action of the biceps brachii?
Supinates and flexes forearm. Short Head resist dislocation of the shoulder.
What is the innervation of the biceps brachii?
Musculocutaneous nerve: C5, C6 Primary, C7
What is the origin insertion and innervation of the coracobrachialis?
Origin: Tip of coracoid process of scapula
Insertion: medial third of medial surface of humerus.
Innervation: musculocutaneous nerve (C5, C6 primary, C7)
What is the action of the coracobrachialis?
Helps flex and adduct arm; resists dislocation of the shoulder
What is the origin insertion and action of the brachialis?
Origin: distal half of anterior surface of the humerus
Insertion: coronoid process and ulnar tuberosity
Action: flexes forearm.
What is the innervation of the brachialis?
Musculocutaneous nerve, (C5, C6)
What are the origins of the triceps brachii?
Long head: infraglenoid tubercle of the scapula
Lateral Head: posterior surface of the humerus, superior to radial groove.
Medial head: posterior surface of humerus, inferior to radial groove.
What is the insertion innervation and action of the triceps brachii?
Insertion: proximal end of olecranon of ulna.
Innervation: radial nerve C6, Primary:C7 C8.
Action: extension of the forearm; long head resist dislocation of the humerus; especially important during Adduction.
What is the origin insertion and action of the anconeus?
Origin: lateral condyle of humerus.
Insertion: lateral surface of the olecranon and superior part of the posterior surface of the ulna.
Action: assist triceps in extending forearm; stabilizes elbow joint.
What is the innervation of the anconeus?
Radial nerve C7 C8 T1
What is the origin insertion for the biceps brachii?
Origin
Short head: Tip of coracoid process of scapula
Long head: Supraglenoid tubercle of the scapula
Insertion:
Tuberosity of the radius and fascia of the forearm via bicipital aponeurosis.
