Dorsiflexes the ankle
Inverts the foot
Extensor Hallucis Longus (EHL) Proximal Attachment
Middle of the anterior surface of the fibula and interosseous membrane
Extensor Hallucis Longus (EHL) Distal Attachment
Base of the distal phalanx of the great toe
Extensor Hallucis Longus (EHL) Innervation
Deep fibular n. [L5,S1]
Extensor Hallucis Longus (EHL) Action
Extends MTP & IP joints of the great toe
Assists with:
-Dorsiflexion of the ankle
-Inversion of the foot
Extensor Digitorum Longus (EDL) Proximal Attachment
Proximal 3/4 of the anterior fibula and interosseus membrane
Extensor Digitorum Longus (EDL) Distal Attachment
Middle and distal phalanges of digits II-V (via extensor hoods)
Extensor Digitorum Longus (EDL) Innervation
Deep fibular n. [L5,S1]
Extensor Digitorum Longus (EDL) Action
Extends MTP, PIP, & DIP joints of lateral 4 toes
Assists with:
-Dorsiflexion of the ankle
-Eversion of the foot
