Muscle or Tendon Healing (Exam 1) Flashcards
Involving muscle and tendon tissue. Pulled muscle or muscle tear.
Strain
Result in pain and dysfunction. Overuse injuries.
Microtrauma
Comple or incomplete tears. Musculotenindous junction becomes injuired by sudden streatch or concentric or eccentric contraction. DOMS
Indirect Muscle Injury
Lacerations, surgical incisions, contusions, blunt trauma.
Direct Muscle Injury
DOMS
Delayed Onset Muscle Sorness
Muscle fiber substance damaged but blood supply and innervation not effected.
Type I
Injury to muscle tissue and nerve supppy but not ECM or vascular supply.
Type II
Muscle inury muscle fiber, matrix, nerve, and vascular system all damaged.
Type III
Heterotopic bone formation after blunt trauma.
Myositis Osificans
Loose areolar CT that surronds the tendon and functions as an elastic sleeve to provide reduced friction, free movement, and oreintation.
Partenon/Paratendon
