Mckenzie Method (Exam 3) Flashcards
Poor posture, under age 30, no known mechanism of injury. Local pain only. Normal ROM, no deformity. Pain only produced with sustained end range loading.
Posture Syndrome
Interventions for Posture Syndrome
Tape, Lumbar Roll, Slouch Correct
Abnormal tissue (shortening). Chronic greater than 7 weeks. Post-op, post-trauma, post-derangement, post-infection. Local pain only, Loss of ROM in at least one direction, no deformity. Pain at end range, no significant ROM increase with repitition.
Dysfunction Syndrome
Intervention for Dysfunction Syndrome
Stretch into greatest restriction often, 2 - 4 hour rule, take lots of measurements, it must hurt, 8 - 16 weeks to regain normal ROM.
Dysfunction is names as the ____ that is most limited.
Direction
Displaced or disrupted tissue, obstrucitve lesion may be discogenic or articular. Acute or chronic, may or may not be mechanism of injury. Local or referred pain, intermittent or constant. Loss of ROM, may or may not be deformity. Pain at mid-range and/or end range, large increase or decrease in ROM with repititions.
Derangement Syndrome
Interventions for Derangement Syndrome
Cause and effect (increase ROM while decrease or centralize pain), ensure posture is correct, keep it simple (1 - 2 exercises). Every 1 - 2 hours.
