Multi-step Tumourigenesis Flashcards
How does tumour formation progress?
Occurance of consecutive dyregulation events.
CRC 3+ TSG deativations and 1 Oncogene activation
What is the difference between the Darwinian Evolution Model and Silver Spoon Model?
DEM assumes all cells are equally capable of generating cancerous cells, but SSM suggest that some “cancer stem cells” are more capable of producing cancerous cells.
What is the idea of intraturmoural heterogeneity?
In a tumour, due to genomic instability there is a tremendous amount of genetic diversity between cells. Higher chance of reaching required mutations for metastatic cancers.
What are the two classes of carcinogens?
Promoters and initiators
