MT 3 Flashcards

1
Q

Emergency Descent Overview SOPM

A

This maneuver is designed to bring the airplane down to a safe altitude in the minimum amount of time, when experiencing a rapid depressurization, or any other situation requiring immediate and rapid loss of altitude. This procedure is accomplished using the QRC.
During an emergency descent, crew communication must be maintained in order to identify possible pilot incapacitation.
When structural damage is suspected, use flight controls with care, limit speed as appropriate, and evaluate the use of landing gear to expedite the descent. When turbulence is encountered, reduce to turbulent air penetration speed.

Perform Manually Controlled Loss of Reliable Airspeed

A

• Pilots recognizes and verbalize unreliable airspeed indications.
• PF disconnects autopilot.
• PF disconnects auto throttles.
• PF determines initial pitch and power for a safe flight path.

Perform Bounced Landing Recovery

A

SOPM- note that for bounced landing we must be above vref to clean up, unlike a missed approach otherwise same procedure

Q

Loss of reliable airspeed PF

A

PF:
• Disconnects the AP and AT

• Sets an initial pitch and thrust setting (Level flight; FL360; 70,000 lbs; 0.70 Mach; Pitch – 4°; Thrust – 85.7%)

Q

What do we do after stabilizing the AC in unreliable airspeed scenario

A

After the crew stabilizes the aircraft for level flight, initiate a descent. Use the Unreliable Airspeed tables to determine a pitch attitude and thrust setting. (Descent; FL300; 70,000 lbs; 0.70 Mach; Pitch – -1°; Thrust – Idle.)

Q

Upset recovery PM

A

Monitor airspeed and altitude throughout recovery
(1) Announce aircraft state
(2) Call out terrain
(3) Verify all required actions are accomplished and call out any omissions

Calls out “GREEN DOT” When accelerating past green dot.

Notify ATC of need for altitude and/or course change. Declare emergency, as necessary

17
Q

The driftdown speed is green dot.
To Initiate drift down:

A
  1. VNAV and FMS SPEEDS must be active.
  2. CONFIRM EO: On the EO RANGE PAGE, select LSK 5R (CONFIRM EO).
  3. On the EO RANGE PAGE, MAX ALT will display at LSK 1L. Set MAX ALT in the altitude selector.
  4. Perform applicable checklists, notify ATC, and monitor descent.
18
Q

What do you need for drift down?

A

VNAV must be armed for DD to activate
