MT 2 Flashcards
Rejected takeoff
• Monitor airplane deceleration status
• Verify reverse thrust
• Cancel any aural warnings
• Call out: “80 KNOTS”
• Advise ATC
• Perform appropriate checklist, as applicable
Crosswind takeoff
During rotation, keep the control wheel in the displaced position to maintain the wings level during liftoff. Smoothly recover from the sideslip by slowly neutralizing the control wheel and rudder pedals after liftoff.
NOTE: When operating on contaminated runways, ensure runway alignment before applying takeoff thrust.
RNP approach
Review the profile. Just another RNAV…
RNP AR approaches are RNAV approaches. Look at the DEN RNAV approaches to runway 35L.
One is titled RNAV (GPS) Y Rwy 35L and one is titled RNAV (RNP) Z Rwy 35 L.
ATC will simply refer to them as RNAV Y Rwy 35L and RNAV Z Rwy 35L making no reference to RNP.
Missed approach

Crosswind landing
The following method is used to land in a crosswind: • Crab the airplane on final approach, and just prior to touchdown, apply downwind rudder to align the airplane with runway centerline simultaneously with aileron control into the wind.
CAUTION: Wing tip or engine nacelle strike occurs when bank exceeds 18° at touchdown (16° with gear struts compressed).

What happens with high winds during an RF leg?
The autopilot will command up to its maximum bank angle to fly the curved segment. With high wind conditions, or if the aircraft’s speed is too high, the maximum bank angle will not be able to keep the aircraft on track and within the containment area. This is why speed limits are often applied to RF legs.
Where is atc not allowed to vector us during an RNP approach?
Pilots cannot accept any radar vector or clearance to join the approach on any portion of an RF leg. This does not preclude joining the approach after an RF leg.
What if there is no RF leg in the final approach segment?
No FAS speed limit during early missed approach
Discontinue Procedure not required
Cat C and D minima approved
Flap 5 and full are approved
What do we do when there is an RF leg in the final approach segment?
Speed limit 165 kt FAF to DA
Use Discontinue Procedure for early missed approach
Use CAT D minima
Flap 5 only
Why do we use the discontinue procedure?
To maintain 165 kt during early missed approach with RF leg in the final approach segment. So the turn radius is reduced
Use the callout “discontinue” when you want to miss the approach early without pushing the TOGA Button
What is the discontinue procedure
1) Deselect APP and verify LNAV active - No HDG or Roll
2) Manual speed 165 kt
3) Set appropriate altitude and select FLCH
4) PM - Sequence the missed approach via the MISSED APPR Prompt
5) Select flap 2 and Gear Up
6) Passing the runway waypoint: Speed up. Clean up
SkyWest’s lowest authorized RNP approach minimum and missed approach
SkyWest’s lowest authorized RNP approach minimum is RNP 0.30 with missed approach 1.0.
If multiple RNP minima are available, select the appropriate minima when loading the approach in the FMS.
