What are the key diagnostic features in BV?
A
Thin, white homogenous discharge
Clue cells on microscopy (wet mount saline preparation) - may be reported as “epithelial cells covered by bacteria”
Vaginal pH > 4.5
Positive whiff test

What is the treatment of BV?
A
Oral Metronidazole 400mg BD for 7 days or 2g single dose
Avoid the 2g stat dose in pregnancy
