What do superior and inferior mean
Superior - above (supra)
Inferior - below (infra)
What do medial and lateral mean
Medial - closer to midline (medio/medialis)
Lateral - further from midline (latero/lateralis)
What do proximal/ distal mean
Proximal - closet to the trunk
Distal - further from the trunk
What do deep and superficial mean
Deep - away from the surface
Superficial- towards the surface
What do palmar, dorsal and plantar mean
Palmar - related to the palm
Dorsal - back of hand/ top of foot
Planter - sole of foot
What axis corresponds to the saggital plane
Frontal
What axis corresponds to the frontal plane
Saggital
What axis corresponds to the transverse plane
Longitudinal
What is an axis
A straight line perpendicular to the plane if movement, about which the joint rotates
What movement happen in the frontal plane
Abduction/ addiction ect about saggital axis
What movements happen in the saggital plane
Flexion and extension about the frontal axis
What movements happen in the transverse plane
Internal and external rotation about the longitudinal axis
