movement analysis Flashcards
What is a lever?
a solid bar that moves around a fixed point when force is applied
to create movement
what are the 4 parts of a lever?
lever
fulcrum
effort
load
what is a fulcrum?
pivot point
in a diagram what shapes are the parts of the lever?
lever - solid bar
fulcrum - triangle
load - rectangle
effort - arrow
what is the effort?
force applied to lever
what is the load?
the resistance moved by the lever
What is a first class lever?
elbow extension
load - fulcrum - down effort arrow
what is a second class lever
plantar-flexion at ankle
fulcrum - load - up effort arrow
what is third class lever?
fulcrum - effort - load
elbow flexion, knee flexion and extension
what is the formula for mechanical advantage?
load
what has a high mechanical advantage?
2nd class lever
.can lift heavy but not quickly
.can’t do a wide range of movement
what has a low mechanical advantage?
1st and 3rd class levers
.can’t move something heavy but can move it quickly, large range of movement
what are the 3 types of axis?
longitudinal
transverse
sagittal
where does a longitudinal axis go?
head to toe
pirouette
rotation
where does a sagittal axis go?
through your stomach
cartwheel
adduction and abduction
