motor learning 4- CH 15 Flashcards
2 types of performance feedback
Task intrinsic- Sensory info naturally available
Augmented feedback- feedback typically from an external force( coach)
What is KR
- external info about the outcome or an attempt to perform a skill
- “your shot went in the rough”
What is KP
- external info about movement characteristics that lead to performance outcomes
- “you began your downswing too early”
What are the 2 roles of augmented feedback in skill acquisition
- provide info that facilitates achievement of goal of skill
- Motivates the learner to continue
Is it better to give info about errors or correct aspects of performance
better to give info about errors
is KR better or KP
both effective
When should u give qualitative info compared to quatitative info
qualitative- early learning
quatitative- later learning
5 types of KP
- Descriptive
- Perscriptive- early learning
- Video replay- depends on skill lvl of learner
- Biofeedback
- Movement kinematics
how can concurrent feedback be effective
it must facilitate the learning of the critical characteristics or relationships in the task as specified by the task- intrinsic feedback
better to have increased frequency of augmented feedback or less
-better to have less= less attention and less guidance effect
What is performance based bandwidth
watch for a certain amount of errors then give feedback
What is the Guidance hypothesis
- feedback on every trial guides learner to successful performance but results in poor learning
- learner becomes dependent
