Intrinsic Motivation
A
Motivation from within. The self satisfaction of successfully completing a task (pride)

Extrinsic Motivation
A
Motivation from an outside source. Praise from coach, players, scouts etc.

Tangible Motivation
A
Physical , can be touched (e.g trophy)

A
Non-physical (e.g praise, encouragement)

Extrinsic Motives
A
- Attract to the activity and provide early motivation (beginners)
- If overused it may undermine the value of activity and therefore also intrinsic motivation as players compete purely for the reward
- Extrinsic rewards may create pressure to win which can lead to cheating
- Loss of motivation if not rewarded

A
- More effective, stronger, longer lasting, gives more satisfaction and pride and a sense of control

- Rewards/Praise

- Make sure the performer can succeed
- Point out the benefits of the exercise
