how does motivation come about

A

arises from positive factors - when an employee is motivated the right conditions have been created and the employee wants to behave in a certain way

if an employee who does not care about their work is told that unless their conduct improves - theyll recieve a formal warning which may chnage their behavior but not motivate them to do so

  • lower rates of labour turnover - help to reduce costs
  • see themselves as stakeholders and not as workers = more productive
  • make change easier to implement
  • better business image to external people i.e. customers, government etc.
