Motion Flashcards
Motion
Movement of an object from one place to another is called motion.
Distance
The length of the total path covered by an object is called as distance. It’s SI Unit is metre.
Displacement
The shortest distance between the initial position and final position of an object is called as displacement. It’s SI Unit is metre.
Uniform Motion
If equal distance is covered in equal interval of time, then motion is said to be uniform.
Non-Uniform Motion
If unequal distance is covered in equal interval of time, then motion is said to be non-uniform.
Speed
[Give its definition, unit and formula ]
Speed is the distance traveled per unit of time. It’s SI Unit is m/s.
- Speed = distance / time
[ It is how fast an object is moving. ]
Velocity
[Give its definition, unit and formula ]
Velocity is the distance traveled per unit of time in a given direction. It’s SI Unit is m/s.
- Velocity = displacement / time
- Average Velocity = (u+v)/2
Acceleration
[Give its definition, unit and formula ]
Acceleration is the change in velocity of an object per unit time. It’s SI Unit is m/s2.
- Acceleration = Δv / time
- a = (v-u)/t
Uniform Circular Motion
When an object moves in a circular path with uniform speed.
Speed = (2πr) / time
