Q

Describe a a way to monitor progress (4)

A

One method used to monitor progress is a training diary.

My training diary was set out in a booklet and had a page for each booklet. At the top of each page it had the date and a place for each of my sessions goals, a description of what I did, my feeling during the session and my next steps.

After each session I wrote down what I did in order without missing any steps out, after recording how I felt after each session.

After doing this I wrote down my next steps based on how I thought each session went. Eg whether I thought any of my steps should be changed to another approach.

I finished by reading over the information I had written down and u used it to help me set a realistic short term and long term goal for my next session.

Q

Explain the Effectiveness of a training diary (4)

A

-it was easy to use and I could take it to train with me. Check it during training to ensure I was doing the correct approaches at the correct intensities

-kept all recorded information inside a booklet. Everything was kept in one place meaning I was unlikely to get lost and easy to find info on previous sessions

  • acted as a permanent record. Look back at previous sessions and see if I improved. If improved, then motivation increases and make me want to improve more
  • complete it immediately after training. Feelings where fresh. Accurately set my next stows in relation to my performance and feeling

Analyse the effectiveness of a training diary (4)

  • take training diary with you. If not, then forget what you are doing and end up doing wrong approaches at the wrong intensity. If taken with you then you are carrying out the correct sessions, and more likely to complete at correct level.
  • coach to check over eateries to ensure they are correct. May not give yourself enough credit and only write neg comments. However, you can ensure info is correct and you are accurately tracking progress p.
  • leave training diary at the gym etc. if then home, you may forget to bring it with you and you may forget sessions or completely later incorrectly. Leaving at gym mean you can just pick it up, check your session plan and then complete it before you leave to ensure you have a valid entry.
