Module 9 Flashcards
With regards to the table legs, what is it that we are looking for?
We look for the major table leg, that is the event with the most ‘juice’ to it.
EFT works on deconstruction…
… it’s working in this deconstruction of the architecture of consciousness itself; because this is how memories form, in the visual, auditory, kinesthetic channels, with olfactory and gustatory as well.
What is the neutral space and what do you ask the client?
Prior to allowing the client to tell the story, your’re going to install a little bit of a safety net. Let’s call that the “neutral place” or the “safety space,” and this is what you would ask your client. I would ask, “So, can you identify a time prior to this particular story ever occurring that you felt very safe or at least neutral.”
Where is the safe space in EFT?
We would prefer to encourage the client to find an actual safe or neutral place as close to the story as possible in the timeline that it was all occurring.
How can you use the safe space in testing if the SUD of a 0 is actually a 0?
You can ask them to tell you the story again, as if I never heard it, starting from the safe space.
Why don’t we let the client retell the story in EFT?
When clients rush through the story without emotional regulation it might retraumatise them. Ask for permission before they tell you the story: If I detect or see intensity going on, I would like to stop you and apply some rounds of tapping. And sometimes I might miss the intensity, I would like you to feel empowered to stop me and let me know that there is intensity at that point.
What gives high SUD levels?
Yelling, or anything with a large volume, startle effect or shock.
Work out the tell he story technque
Let the client speak, if there is no intensity, let them continue. As soon as there is intensity: stop. Ask them how intense it is, identify the aspact, apply tapping. Check on them if the intensity has dropped. If no, do more rounds, if yes, continue with the story.
What do you do when a client has an insight during the tapping session?
You leave it for later and you continue with the tapping. Get the crescendo to 0.
What is advised when you start of with a 10?
Include the 9-GAMUT procedure.
What is spatial anchoring?
Using your hands to clarify the beginning and the end of the story, in that way you’ll help the containment of the story and you prevent aspect switching.
What can happen when the SUD doesn’t drop? And what can you do then?
It could be that they are already thinking about crescendo that is to come later on the story. You can leave a SUD of a 1 there for the moment and come back to it later to see if the SUD really had to do with the things to come or if there is residual tension.
What do you do at the end of every tell the story technique? Why?
A vivid visualisation. Because you really want to know wether the 0 is really a 0.
What you can also do is saying specific things to the client that was a trigger for them.
What do you ask your clients during the vivid visualisation?
Think of all the memories that were bothersome and see if you can exaggerate them. If there is residual tension you can tap on that. Be aware that it is not a switching aspect. When it is a 0, applaud them! Often the client comes up with positive reframes. This is also a good time to move to the third phase of the model.
What are the 8 steps for the TTS?
- Help your client choose and qualify an event.
- Ask them to start telling the story from a neutral point.
- Instruct the client to stop the moment they feel any intensity whatsoever.
- Get the aspects and do the tapping
- Continue with the story, or start all over.
- Once all aspects in all crescendos seem to be clear, start over from the neutral place. Address new aspects with more tapping.
- Repeat until client no longer reports activation.
- Employ testing methods.
