Module 4 Flashcards

1
Q

What is known about tapping on the EFT point in comparison to random points?

A

There is research that demonstrates that tapping on these particular tapping points, as opposed to sham points, is an active ingredient in the efficacy of EFT. So, the results you’re experiencing are probably not about distraction.

Q

How can you introduce EFT?

A

You give them an easy win, like start with something simple and something physical, like a headache or migraine. Or if they come in with stress because of the drive.

Acupuncture – Many people have had acupuncture and most are, at least, aware of it. Inform your patient that, when doing EFT, we are tapping on points on the meridian system that was mapped by the Chinese, as part of their renowned and
enduring system of medicine, thousands of years ago. Stimulating the acupressure points seems to have the effect of moving blocked energy in the body, the same result acupuncturists are looking for by placing needles along meridian lines. Instead of needles, we use our fingers to perform “emotional acupuncture.”

• Metaphors – how might you use metaphors to describe how EFT works?
All is well on the freeway when traffic is moving freely. Then ,that ’63 Volkswagen van breaks down in the middle lane, causing a disruption in the flow. That represents the trauma. If the broken-down van is never removed, we can learn to adapt. On subsequent trips, I may start driving in the far lane to get as far away from the blockage as I can. Or I may learn to leave the freeway an exit earlier to avoid the disruption. Humans are quite adept at adapting. Wouldn’t it be better to remove the obstacle and enjoy full use of the freeway? EFT is the tow truck that arrives to remove the obstacle, allowing traffic to, once again, flow freely.
