Module 7 Flashcards
How do you get to aspects?
You make a circle with the problem in the centre and around it all the other situations/beliefs that relate to it. Like a mind map. All of the smaller circles are called aspects.
Why are aspects important?
Because the problem is mostly too general. We find out what the elements are that make up this problem, we focus on the aspects with the EFT. Also, when we see a lot of people with similar complaints, we can make assumptions. Getting the aspects makes you focus on this particular client.
What is the idea of switching aspects?
People sometimes switch from one aspect to another aspect. Most of the time there is an underlying aspect for the one the client is mentioning. That is why we get out the earlier memories, because those are the root. Containment is important.
Sometimes clients even don’t want to pause on some aspects and they mix them up to get it over with as soon as possible.
How does the mind-map relate to treatment plans?
The centre of the circle of the mind map can be replaced with a schema or a DSM diagnoses.
Why do we focus on the negative table legs?
Because we can have a lot of evidence that the table top is not true, but we do believe the one or two negative memories.
What is the flow from general to more detailed?
- Table Tops
- Table Leg
- Specific event (might be a table leg)
- Story Board of specific event with 3-7 emotional crescendos
- Aspects of each emotional crescendo
What are the five language options for your setup statement?
- Emotions
- SUDS
- Somatic Reporting
- Details of the moment of the event
- Also pay attention to the non-verbal communication. The gestures can be included in the setup statement.
And you can take their language and the intensity and the colour of their emotions when going through the EFT recipe.
What is the difference with the EMDR safe place and what we use in EFT?
We don’t look for a place like a mountain top, we take a moment on the timeline where things are still neutral or okay.
What do you ask when the SUD has dropped?
You asked if the number is still measuring the same thing or if it has changed.
‘Even though I have this remaining (enter SUD score), I completely…’
