Q

What are we going to treat in relationship to the discovery statement?

A

We’re going to be able to treat through the body-mind bridge, understanding that we’re treating the emotional aspects, or the blockage aspects of that particular problem statement.

Q

What is the basis premisses of EFT?

A

EFT operates on the premise that there are unresolved emotional issues either causing or contributing to any issue. The reason we say they are unresolved is that any negative experiences can be stored in the body and continue affecting the way we handle new experiences, until resolved.”

Q

What is the river metaphor?

A

Dan Siegel offers a river as a model representing the flow of energy and information in the mind/body system. The middle of the river, where the water flows freely represents “Integration” and has qualities of being grounded, noetic, centered, harmonious, receptive, engaged, coherent, and empathic. The banks of the river, where the water is more shallow and susceptible to blocks in the flow, represent “Chaos” on one side and “Rigidity” on the other. Should something (trauma) suddenly obstruct the flow of water or energy on one side, reciprocal current is forced to the opposite bank creating erosion and ultimate disruption in the natural path of the river.

Q

What is the goal of EFT in relation to the river metaphor?

A

Our goal in EFT is to increase the free flow of information and energy. By removing those obstacles or traumatic disruptions, we facilitate that flow.

Q

What can you do with Symptom Reduction Approaches?

A

It can obviously reduce the symptoms, regulate emotions and stabilise the client, but it can also help build the therapeutic relationship and increase a sense of safety to go deeper into the trauma. It can also teach clients a way to regulate their nervous system.

Q

How can you combine Palliative and Clinical EFT?

A

In sessions you can use the Clinical EFT and in between sessions you can have clients practice with the Palliative EFT.

17
Q

Metaphor with the flashlight and disruption of the flow with regards to the discovery statement.

A

Is the flashlight broken? Is the battery out of power? It is not working because the flow state is disrupted.
Can it be that you yourself were never broken, but that your own flow state only needs to reconnected.

18
Q

Does the past have any influence? What is the good news here?

A

No, it does not. It is the memory which you’re experiencing now and is a representation of the past, which has an influence. The good news is that you couldn’t change the past anyways. But we can fix the disruption that results from specific events.
