What is intelligence?
It is the ability to learn, understand, or deal with new situations. Despite this, many people will be better than others in specific areas, such as math or reasoning.
What are the types of intelligence

What is concrete intelligence?
It is an individual’s ability to comprehend actual situations and react to them adequately.
What is verbal intelligence?
It is the ability to analyze and solve problems through linguist abilities
What is analytical intelligence?
It is the ability to analyze a situation and solve problems.
What is creative intelligence?
It is the ability to use knowledge and experience in innovative ways.
What is general intelligence?
It is a broad mental capacity that encompasses multiple cognitive abilities
What is practical intelligence?
It is the ability to apply what you learned to real-world situations.
What is emotional intelligence?
It is the ability of recognizing, managing, and controlling emotions.
Who are some of the psychologists behind intelligence theories?
- Charles Spearman
- Howard Gardner

What did Charles Spearman do?
He associated intelligence with factor analysis where intelligence can be expressed by a single factor called “g” for general.
What did Howard Gardner believe?
He believed that there were multiple intelligences:
- Visual-Spatial
- Bodily-Kinesthetic
- Musical
- Interpersonal
- Intrapersonal
- Linguistic
- Logical-Mathematical
- Natural
What did Robert Sternberg do?
His contemporary theory showed that he believed that there were three main types of intelligence:
What we learn in school (e.g. ability to compare and contrast, explain and analyze, etc…)
Creative intelligence (the ability of using knowledge and experience in innovative ways)
Practical intelligence (the ability of applying what you know to real-world situations.
What did Daniel Goleman do?
He is seen as the “founder” of emotional intelligence (EQ). He believed that you could recognize, manage, and control your emotions.
Verbal Linguistic Intelligence
Involve activities such as: hearing, listening, impromptu or formal speaking, tongue twisters, humor, oral or silent reading, documentation, creative writing, spelling, journaling, poetry.
